By Ashley Robinson FanDuel itself is partially legal in Florida, but there is an important difference between FanDuel Fantasy Sports and FanDuel Sportsbook.
As of 2026, FanDuel Sportsbook is not legally operating for sports betting in Florida. Florida currently allows only one statewide legal online sportsbook, which is Hard Rock Bet under the Seminole Tribe agreement.
This means people in Florida cannot legally use FanDuel Sportsbook to place traditional sports bets like NFL spreads, NBA parlays, or UFC wagers.
FanDuel Fantasy Sports Is Available
Although the sportsbook is not active in Florida, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) products are still available to many Florida users.
Fantasy sports work differently from sportsbook betting. Instead of betting directly on game outcomes, users create fantasy lineups using athletes and compete based on player performance statistics.
This is why many Florida residents can still access parts of FanDuel’s platform even though the sportsbook itself is restricted.
Why Isn’t FanDuel Sportsbook Legal in Florida?
Florida’s sports betting market operates under a special agreement between the state government and the Seminole Tribe of Florida.
That agreement currently gives Hard Rock Bet exclusive control over most legal online sports betting operations in the state.
Because of this arrangement, large sportsbook companies such as:
- FanDuel Sportsbook
- DraftKings Sportsbook
- BetMGM Sportsbook
- Caesars Sportsbook
are not fully licensed for statewide online sportsbook betting in Florida right now.
Can Florida Residents Download the FanDuel App?
Yes. Florida residents can still download the FanDuel app. However, sportsbook betting features may not function legally inside Florida.
Some features available may include:
- Daily fantasy sports
- Account access
- Odds viewing
- Promotions in other states
The app uses geolocation technology to determine where the user is physically located.
Can Tourists Use FanDuel Sportsbook in Florida?
No. Even visitors inside Florida cannot legally place sportsbook wagers through FanDuel Sportsbook while in the state.
The restriction applies based on physical location, not residency.
Is Hard Rock Bet the Only Legal Sportsbook?
Yes. Currently Hard Rock Bet is considered the primary legal online sportsbook operating statewide in Florida.
Could FanDuel Become Legal Later?
Possibly. Florida gambling laws continue to evolve, and future legal or political changes could eventually allow more sportsbooks into the market.
However, as of 2026, FanDuel Sportsbook is still not legally operating for statewide sports betting in Florida.
